Where Do I Even Start?
I learned when I was young.
Wiggling myself under my uncle’s arm to get a better glimpse of what the heck he was doing...Standing on my tiptoes to stick my nose and fingers over the countertop. The colors, flavors, and smells were every bit of mesmerizing.
Our back and forth would go something like…
"What's that??"
"Balsamic vinegar."
"It looks gross...I want to try it. What's it do??"...and so on.
Now that I’m older, cooking serves a whole new world of purposes. Practically, it's one of my favorite exercises for mindfulness. It's a time to be in one place and nowhere else for an hour…two…or even three.
An added plus, you get to watch something truly unfold from start to finish. Then, when it’s all over, you can lean back, admire your work and say: “ahhh, I really made that” with a warm smile.
(Then of course there's no shame in snapping a picture & sending it to
loved ones for a lil' instant gratification or whateva)
There’s so many more treats I’d love to share, but these recipes were hand-picked and super "quarantine"-specific:
**Ya'll know cooking to pass the time came in handy while I waited for the NBA to came back on**
Stews for the days your thoughts stretch for miles long. They tend to take time...a lot of chopping…and many tiny adjustments.
Kale Bowls for a quick "pick me up”. The big bright colors may just help bring out your big bright smile.
& Lattes for the “a hug would be really nice right now” moments.
Oh! About the vegan thing...I’m not actually vegan (yet).
The food just slapped when I finally got the hang of it.
Buttt....it actually stuck because after studying Nutrition formally in school, I've found there’s something so magical about feeding your body what it wants & deserves. Now that I'm here, it has been eye-opening to learn more about the Afrovegan movement-so, let's celebrate it with a veganfoodblog.
And just F O R Y O U
I tossed in a few adjustments, if the leap is a little too scary.
….But. If I can get these past my family, it’s aight.
Much love,
Alex
